This beautiful and unique Ganesh statue is seated on a sea turtle, rather than his vehicle, Mooshika the rat! This is the first time we’ve seen Ganesh sat atop a turtle, so it’s a rare sight.

Ganesh is bearing an elephant goad, a fly whisk, a dish of his favourite sweets, laddus, and his broken tusk, which he used to compose the Mahabharata epic. He wears a cobra over his breast as a tribute to his father, Lord Shiva, who is known for his affinity for snakes. His crown and dhoti have elaborate decorations etched into them. His skin is very smooth, which contrasts well with the saffron accents in his clothing and jewellery. The turtle is the sculpture’s most distinctive and interesting feature! This is the first and only time we’ve seen Ganesh sitting atop a turtle, so it’s a rare sight!
