Lord Vishnu
Lord Vishnu is known as the Preserver and Protector of the universe. He lives in kshira sagara with devi Laxmi. He often seen sleeping on the coil of serpent Shesha . He has taken many Avtars on earth including Matsya , Vaman , Narshimha , Ram , Krishna , Kurma , Parshurama etc. to save the earth from devil powers. He is famous for his intelligency and called Mayavi. He has four hands in which he is holding Pancahjanya conch(sankh) , Sudarshan Chakra, Lotus Flower, Kaumodaki.
Lord Vishnu’s Dashavtaras on Earth
1.Matsya : Matsya is the initial appearance of lord Vishnu on earth. According to the mythological there are two stories about this. In first story a destruction is going to happen on earth .So Vishnu ji order Rishi to collect living organisms and sit in a boat. when the destructon happen he save him .That way Bharma ji recreate the earth easily. In second story a Devil name Hayagriv stole Vedas and hide them in ocean . After the disappearence of Vedas the dark of ignorance spread in the universe. Vishnu ji appear as a fish ,killed the demon and bring back vedas .
2.Kurma: Kurma means the form of tortoise. Their is a mythological story behind it.Lord Indra powers was at peack that time. Due to this Rishi Durwasa present a garland of flowers to him .He thought it to be a normal garland and present to its elephant Aravat .But aravat disrespect it .on seeing this rishi Durwasa gets furious and give curse to Indra. Indra ji went to Bhrama ji for the solution of the curse. Bharama ji advised him to go to lord vishnu.He went to vishnu ji with other gods .Vishnu ji asked them to perform Samundra Manthan.That way they can eliminate the Curse by taking Amrit from it . they all ready for it.But there was a hurdle that they can’t do it alone. They have to take the help of devils.They wre not agree for this.So lord Vishnu explain them something then they agreed for it. They went to demons and lured them for the Amrit. they also agreed for this.The Merud Mountain was choosen as a Manthan Stick. They all started Manthan,Halahal poision was the first thing that came out .It was drink by Lord Shiva. After some attempts the manthan stick started drowning.To save this vishnu ji incarnated as Tortoise to save the stick from drowning. The Diameter of this tortoise was 1 lakh Yojan.after sometime Amrit came out and the Devtas took it and eliminate the curse and became immortal forever.
3.Varah: Varah is the third avtara of Vishnu ji. Varah means cast living in Jungle. Varah appears three times on earth. These three are:
Neel varah kaal: It is the time when earth is on the verge of destruction .The climate on earth is changed. The heat increases at highest level. Which brought drought on earth .The life on earth is declining. The whole water of earth evaporate .Due to this the clouds filled with heavy water and torrential rain started on earth. Bharama ji pray to vishnu ji to avoid the destruction. So he incarnated as neel varah. He with his varah army resuscitate earth.
Aadhi Varah: Rishi kasayapa had two sons named Hirayanayaksh and Hirayanayakashayap. They satisfied lord Bharama with their penanace and get the boon of immortal from him. This increase arrogance in them. They starting doing aterocities on people as well as on gods. Hiranyaksh went to Devlok and won it. after defeating many Gods he challanged Lord Vishnu. He provoked lord vishnu by many ways ,but lord vishnu in varah avtaar smiling on him untill he put the earth out of ocean. Then he started fighting with Hiranyaksh and killed him.
White Varah: The king of Dravid kingdom Sumati decided gave his throne to his sons and went for pilgrimage journey. On they way he died due to unknown reasons. The Narad Muni came to his son Sumati and provoked him to destroy all the pilgrimage places . He took advised from his ministers and started dsestroying the places . The devotees who lived their left the place and went towards north pole to save their life.There they met to white varah and request him to save the places. White varah war with Sumati and killed him.
4.Narsimha : When Lord Vishnu killed Hiranyakash in varah avtaar ,his brother hirayankasayap get angry with it and he decided to took revange. He againg started penanace for the boon of immortal from Bharama but this time in different way. When Brahma ji happy with his worship he asked him what he need .Hiranyakasayap said he wants to be immortal in away that he can’t be killed on earth ,water ,sky,by human,by animal. After getting boon he won swarag and started making suffering of god devotees.He has a Son named Prahaladh ,he was the great devotee of Vishnu ji.Knowing this He wanted to kill him. Vishnu came to save his great devotee. He incarnated as Narsimha (half man and half animal).He killed him and save Paraladh.
5.vamana: Raja bali the king of demons was a powerful . He defeated Indra and take over his Throne. Indra’s mother prayed to lord Vishnu. He gave him condolence and said he will took birth form his womb and gave relief from the terror of Bali. Once bali organised a Aswamegh Yagya ,vaman reached their.Bali gave him place to sit.After the Yagya ends he asked Vaman to take what what he need.After insisting by Bali many times Vaman said he needs 3 foot land.Bali was surprised to hear this ask him to take more.But Vaman only needs 3 foot land.Bali vow to gave him what he needs. As he vowed Vaman body started becoming huge.From his one foot he cover the Sawarga , from second foot he cover the whole universe ,The third foot yet to cover but their is nothing left behind so king Bali sits on his foots and said lord the owner of the land is bigger than all lands so put your foot on my head .Vaman put his foot on the head of Bali.He was very happy with his humbleness so he make Bali the king of Patal.
6. Parashurama: Bhagwan Parshuram was the sixth avtaar of Lord Vishnu. His father and mother were Jamadhagni and Renuka devi. According to Puranas he appeared in Satya yuga. Treta Yuga, Dwapar Yuga and now he is present in Kalyuga also.He will stay on earth untill the end of kaliyuga. His name connected with many controversies like killing Hehya clan 36 times , killing his own mother (on the order of his father but later he requested his father to re-alive her) , oral fight with laxman etc. He helped krishna to achieve Sudarshan Chakra, teach Draunacharya and Karna .
7.Ram: Rama was the great king of Ayodhya . He killed the powerful devil Ravana. He was the son of Dhasrath and kousalya .He belongs to Ragukul Clan and Known as Maryada Purshotam. He teaches the people to always respect and obey their orders.
8.Balrama: According from some mythological sources Balram ji the elder brother of Krishna was the seventh avtaar of lord Vishnu.
9. Krishna: krishna is not only the ninth avtaar of lord Vishnu but he is most loved god on earth . He had done many important works on earth. He gave gita gyaan in mahabharat war, which guide you towards perfect life and Moksh. He killed many powerful devils with his power and Maya. He is the famous for his love story with Radha ji. He is everything present in and around universe. He is said to be Makhan Chor. weman love for him is on another level ,Mirabai is the perfect example of it. he also prent an example on frienship also, His story with his friend Sudhama was well known by every one. He play bansuri and graze cow. Many births were also not enough about explaining him.
10.Kalki: According to Geeta Puran Kalki will be the tenth Avtar of Lord Vishnu on Earth. He will take birth near the end of Kaliyuga and destroy it.
